A Message to My Bosses

tt55.jpgwanted to take this opportunity to thank YOU, the over 219,000 men, women and children of the Seventh Legislative District, for affording me the opportunity and responsibility to serve as one of your elected representatives in the New Jersey General Assembly. It has been one of the highlights of my life to be entrusted with this awesome responsibility, and a charge that I take seriously.

During my short tenure in the Legislature, I am proud to have worked to bring our community, the public and private sectors  together to enrich the quality of life in our area. This ethos of “One Community, One District” is the cornerstone of my philosophy in representing you each day. I am proud to call New Jersey’s Seventh Legislative District my family’s home. And, it is why I have asked for your support in the past, and why today I wish to formally announce my candidacy to represent you again in the New Jersey General Assembly.

I, along with my colleague and running mate Assemblyman Herb Conaway, have stood together to maintain good-paying jobs in our area at Lockheed Martin, the Burlington Coat Factory, Destination Maternity and Express Scripts. We’ve fought on behalf of our veterans to expand their work opportunities through the NJ Helmets to Hardhats Program and provide the necessary resources to programs to address the homelessness issue many of these patriots face. And, we expanded the “Breakfast after the Bell” program to ensure that all of our children start the academic day ready to learn.

These collaborative efforts and many others are why I am seeking your support. I have not won every fight on your behalf in Trenton, but my commitment towards fighting for you and your families like they were my own has never waned. That commitment continues to motivate me every day, and every day I am focused on how to make our community better and stronger than the day before.

The issues of affordability, social justice, economic fairness and equal opportunity remain my top priorities. The ideals behind those issues are what drew me to elected public service four years ago. It is a belief that by working together…towards a common purpose of shared opportunity….we can achieve great things.

I hope you will embark on this journey once again on our behalf. We will need your help, support and your prayers along the way. In the weeks to come, I would encourage you to become an ambassador on our behalf…telling your family, friends, and neighbors that you support our team and want them to as well. So to my bosses of the Seventh Legislative district, again thank you for the privilege of serving you. There is more work still ahead of us but with your continued support, Assemblyman Herb Conaway and I are committed to getting the job done.
