GI Go Fund and Assemblyman Troy Singleton Distribute Thousands in Gift Cards to Needy Veterans For Holidays at the Bordentown Armory

Bordentown, NJ (PRWEB) December 19, 2014

The holidays are a time that families come together to celebrate, give thanks, and enjoy one another’s love and company. However, this is a very difficult time of year for many military veterans, with many lacking the means to provide their families with gifts or a holiday meal.

With this thought in mind, the GI Go Fund and Assemblyman Troy Singleton lent a helping hand to those veterans who struggle the most, handing out over eighty $50 Visa gift cards to veterans in need in the Burlington County area. The cards give veterans the chance to purchase food, clothing, and toys for their families this holiday season.

The cards were distributed at the Bordentown Armory, where GI Go Executive Director Jack Fanous and Assemblyman Singleton where joined by Brigadier General James Grant, who serves as the Director, Joint Staff to The Adjutant General of New Jersey. Together the men handed out the cards to veterans in need and spoke to them individually about the issues that they face.

“I am proud to have had the opportunity to offer support to veterans in need,” said GI Go Executive Director Jack Fanous. “It was a truly great honor to be here and lend this helping hand to our veterans, and doing it alongside such a committed supporter of veterans like Assemblyman Singleton was special. However, meeting these veterans has reminded me of the real difficulties some of our military families face during the holidays. We must always remember what these families and so many others go through during this time of year, the real challenge they face of giving their families food and gifts. Remembering this is the true meaning of the holiday season, and offering a helping hand these military families is the best way to celebrate it.”

The GI Go Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that provides assistance to all military veterans, with a focus on veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, by helping them find employment, access housing, and secure their educational and health benefits. The group accomplishes these goals through strong partnerships like the one created in Newark, NJ with now Senator Cory Booker. In addition to these efforts, the organization offers support to veterans in need every year, as it has distributed tens of thousands in cards throughout the years to veterans in the area looking for a helping hand during the holidays.

The organization has already given out thousands in financial assistance to veterans in need during this Thanksgiving and Holiday Season, and will continue to offer thousands more in gift cards to military families throughout the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst area between now and the end of the year.
