South Jersey is well represented on the New Jersey Black Heritage Trail, with some 34 sites approved thus far for the trail — and more to come.
On Sept. 7, 2022, Gov. Phil Murphy signed into law a bill that called for New Jersey Historical Commission members to establish a Black Heritage Trail to promote cultural awareness and highlight Black heritage sites through historical markers.
