$1M grant to pay for new bridge between Cinnaminson, Riverton

TRENTON — A $1 million state grant will be used to replace a bridge across Pompeston Creek between Cinnaminson and Riverton.
The span carries County Road 543 into Cinnaminson.
The grant was announced by Assemblymen Herb Conaway Jr. and Troy Singleton, both D-Burlington. A timetable for the bridge’s replacement was not immediately available Monday.
Changes made to redevelopment law
A bill amending the state’s redevelopment law was signed by Gov. Chris Christie Monday.
The legislation adds language in the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law that allows municipalities to implement both “condemnation” — which allows for eminent domain use — and “non-condemnation” redevelopment areas.
The former calls for a public notice process that includes informing property owners that the proposed designation will allow a municipality to exercise eminent domain.
But if development projects are unable to succeed without invoking eminent domain, the non-condemning zones can be redesignated as a condemnation area — a point that has come under criticism.
The refined law also now limits property owners to 45 days to appeal redevelopment designations, the law’s equivalent to a blighted area.
