BCIT Adult Education Hosts First-Ever Career Expo, Welcomes Over 48 Local Employers
WESTAMPTON, NJ – Recently, the Adult Education program at the Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT) proudly hosted its first-ever Career Expo, welcoming more than 48 local employers and drawing strong attendance from job seekers, adult learners, and high school students from across Burlington County.
This milestone event, held under the new leadership of Principal Dr. Andrew McAlpin, was the culmination of months of strategic planning aimed at bridging the gap between skilled talent and local workforce demands. The expo provided a valuable platform for networking, career exploration, and direct engagement with potential employers and training providers.
"Our first annual Career Expo was a resounding success, creating vital connections between our residents and real career opportunities. BCIT Adult Education is dedicated to empowering every student to achieve their career goals through practical training, guidance, and strong community partnerships," said Dr. McAlpin.
The Career Expo also welcomed high school juniors and seniors from across the county, providing early exposure to career opportunities and allowing students to explore various professions firsthand.
The event underscored BCIT's core mission to:
- Align its programs with evolving industry needs;
- Empower lifelong learners to become career-ready;
- Build strong relationships with business, civic, and community leaders; and
- Foster apprenticeship and occupational training pathways through collaborative partnerships.
As the national spotlight continues to focus on the growing demand for skilled trades, BCIT's Adult Education program is answering the call. With increasing interest in trade schools and alternative career pathways, BCIT is shaping a new narrative that champions technical skills, hands-on learning, and real-world readiness.
"This is just the beginning," added Dr. McAlpin. "We're not only responding to workforce needs—we're writing the future of adult education and career training in Burlington County."
Senator Troy Singleton also attended the event and shared, “Thank you to BCIT Adult Education for hosting such an impactful Community Connections Career Fair. It was a pleasure to speak with students, job seekers, and educators about the power of opportunity and the importance of investing in skilled trades. From hands-on demos to ample resources, this event highlighted how collaboration between education and workforce drives career development.”
