Bordentown City, Fieldsboro Each Receive $250K in Funds Under State Budget
BORDENTOWN CITY, NJ/FIELDSBORO, NJ — State Senator Troy Singleton highlighted funding secured for Bordentown City and Fieldsboro in the state budget during stops on his "State Budget Tour" last week.
Singleton visited the two municipalities on July 12 and spoke with elected officials about the money, in which both Bordentown City and Fieldsboro will receive $250,000 each for improvements to the towns.
Bordentown City received the quarter-of-a-million dollar funding for improvements to its new Municipal Complex on Park Street, specifically upgrades to its lighting, security and infrastructure.
"I was proud to sponsor a resolution on behalf of this historic community so that they can continue to upgrade this area with the lighting, security and infrastructure it needs," said Singleton on Friday. "Today, I met with Mayor Jennifer Sciortino to highlight this investment and see exactly how this funding will benefit the project."
Sciortino thanked Singleton for "going to bat for us once again", as well as to the Governor and Legislature "for supporting this budget."
"The grant will go a long way to help offset the cost for certain critical needs at the new administration building — namely, lighting and security — while reducing the burden on the taxpayers and making the building more accessible to the public," she said.
Next on Singleton's State Budget Tour was a stop in Fieldsboro, where he met Mayor David Hansell and Councilman Tim Tyler to discuss the improvements the town will be making with the $250,000 it will receive under the state budget.
The money will be used for critical street upgrades, specifically being used to address erosion and to pave Union Street, as well as to upgrade water meter infrastructure.
"Consider this property tax relief because every dollar coming from the State is one less dollar that has to come from local taxpayers," said Singleton.
