In the face of an affordable housing crisis, municipal laws forbid you from letting your granny live in your backyard. That’s right, you can’t even build a stand-alone unit on your own property – maybe attached to the house or garage – so that she has an affordable place to live.

This is the result of restrictive zoning laws imposed by local government that block anything but single-family homes. That has to change for us to solve this crisis.
