New, Fuller Weekday River LINE Schedule to Start on September 23

BORDENTOWN, NJ  After a summer of delays and cancelations due to equipment issues, signal malfunctions and weather, NJ TRANSIT has introduced a new, fuller weekday schedule for the River LINE beginning on September 23.

The new schedule will go into effect on Monday, which will include weekday morning and afternoon peak period service, bringing supplemental busing to an end. Riders should note that the current Saturday and Sunday/Holiday schedules will not change

Senator Troy Singleton, who represents the 7th Legislative District — which includes all Burlington County River Line stations including the Bordentown station — in July pushed for public hearings into the River LINE’s performance, citing the "disappointed customers" who had contacted his office throughout summer about repeated delays and cancelations. NJ TRANSIT had blamed the incidents on the need for customized parts, excessive temperatures, signal malfunctions, grade crossing incidents, medical emergencies and flooding.

In announcing the new schedule taking effect on September 23, NJ TRANSIT said that it “remains committed to restoring consistent and reliable weekday service on the River LINE. We are working every day to resolve the equipment issues with our contract operator in order to deliver the service our customers expect and deserve.”
