NJ Senate Passes Legislation Waiving Licensing Fees For Veterans
Edison, NJ - Two bills were passed recently, both of which were sponsored by Senator Patrick J. Diegnan Jr. (D - Middlesex) and Senator Troy Singleton (D - Burlington).
The proposals, S-2448 and S-2449, are set to waive certain licensing fees for veterans and their spouses. It will exempt professional and occupational license holders from paying a fee for holding out-of-state licenses, the same exemption working for CDL owners as well (covered in S-2449).
Prior to legislation, it was evident that veterans were racking up too many fees while trying to return and build their professional lives. Both proposals were passed unanimously, 40 - 0.
“Our veterans sacrifice so much to preserve our freedoms. Waiving the need to pay a fee to those who already hold an out-of-state professional or occupation license or a commercial driver’s license is the right thing to do for veterans and their families” said Senator Diegnan. It is important to remember that our veterans defend us with their life, for that we honor them in every way we can.
