Singleton Applauds Historic Participation in Affordable Housing Process

TRENTON – New Jersey Senate Majority Caucus Chair Troy Singleton, the Chairman of the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee, issued the following statement in response to the data released today by Fair Share Housing Center:

“As the author of New Jersey’s landmark affordable housing law, I am incredibly proud of the number of municipalities who are participating in the affordable housing process.

“More towns have engaged and committed to building affordable housing than at any point in the Mount Laurel Doctrine’s 50-year history, proving that the need truly exists – in every region of the state – to provide accessible, workforce housing. Undoubtedly, this is a direct testament to the process, transparency, and flexibility provided in the law we passed last spring.

“At a time when housing affordability remains a top concern for families, it is also indicative of our shared dedication to ensuring that everyone – regardless of income or zip code – has a safe, stable place to call home.”
