Singleton Elevated to New Leadership Role in Senate Majority Caucus
TRENTON, NJ — Senator Troy Singleton has been elevated to a new leadership position within the Senate Majority Caucus, Senate President Nick Scutari announced on Thursday.
Singleton, who represents Bordentown in the Legislature, will become the Senate Majority Caucus Chair. He had previously served as Majority Whip.
“It has been extremely rewarding to serve as a member of the Senate Democratic Leadership Team and an honor to be elevated to Caucus Chair,” said Senator Singleton (D-Burlington), who had been serving as Majority Whip. “Undoubtedly, this this team, under the leadership of Senate President Scutari, will drive an agenda will drive an agenda that will create economic and equitable opportunities – from expanding housing affordability and accessibility, lowering healthcare and prescription costs, promoting small business growth, and especially alleviating the tax burden on hard-working families. I look forward to working with this team and our colleagues to build upon the progress we have made in moving New Jersey forward.”
In addition to his new role as Senate Majority Caucus Chair, Singleton also serves as chair of the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee and has been newly selected to serve as Vice Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
“In addition to being elevated to Senate Majority Caucus Chair today, I will remain Chairman of the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee and will become Vice-Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee,” continued Singleton. “I am thankful for Senate President Scutari’s confidence in assigning me to this important role. I look forward to working closely with Chairman Stack, as well as my other colleagues, as we address the challenges facing New Jersey's Judiciary, our criminal justice system, and exercise advice and consent on the Governor's nominations. Over the last seven years of my service on this Committee, I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the issues and reviewing the nominees that have come before us, and I look forward to continuing that work as Vice-Chair.”
Other leadership changes include Senator Vin Gopal assuming the position of Senator Majority Whip and Senator Jim Beach serving as Deputy Majority Whip.
