Singleton Statement on State Budget

TRENTON – Senator Troy Singleton (D-Burlington), the Senate Majority Whip and Chair of the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee, issued the following statement today on the Senate's passage of the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget:

"The budget passed today is a continuation of our efforts to mitigate the housing crisis and deliver real economic relief to our residents. This budget is a testament to our shared commitment to construct affordable housing, repair and revitalize homes, increase homeownership with downpayment assistance, and provide property tax relief – all of which will make housing more affordable for New Jersey families.

“While aimed at combatting the housing and affordability crisis that acutely impacts New Jersey, this budget also seeks to promote equitable opportunity, with additional funding to continue assistance for first-time and first-generation homebuyers, individuals and families who have too often been excluded from the economic benefits of homeownership.

“The priorities signified by this budget, and the work we have done leading up to it such as our affordable housing reform law, represent our ongoing efforts to make New Jersey a more affordable place to live.”
