South Jersey is heading back to school. Here are some local supply drives

August means back-to-school prep. Suddenly the stores are flooded with school supplies and the trending backpacks, and parents are scrambling to find the items on their children's supply lists.

But where should you turn if you have a little extra to give, or need a little extra help getting your child ready for September?

Here are some back-to-school drives happening around South Jersey. We'll keep the list updated with ways to donate and receive donations as they become available.

Burlington County supply drive - through Aug. 15

How to donate:

Families in Burlington County can donate backpacks and other school supplies to families in need by dropping off items at any county library, government building lobby or the legislative office of Sen. Troy Singleton, (D-Burlington), at 400 North Church St., Suite 260, Moorestown.

Suggested donations include: backpacks, calculators, binders, paper, folders, notebooks, composition books, pencils, pencil cases, pens, crayons, markers, highlighters, erasers, small hand sanitizers, lunch boxes, scissors and index cards. Only new items will be accepted.

How to receive donations:

Families in need can receive donations by registering at TroySingleton.com/backpacks.

Donations are only available to Burlington County residents, and they must RSVP and register.

Free haircuts from Troy Singleton - Aug. 31

Kids 12 and under from New Jersey's 7th legislative district can get a free haircut for the new school year, courtesy of Sen. Troy Singleton, (D-Burlington).

Haircuts will be provided at Moguls Barbershop, which is located at 1821 Cinnaminson Ave., Cinnaminson, NJ.

Students from Beverly, Bordentown City, Bordentown Township, Burlington City, Burlington Township, Cinnaminson, Delanco, Delran, Edgewater Park, Fieldsboro, Florence, Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Palmyra, Riverside, Riverton, and Willingboro are eligible and should provide a valid student ID if possible.
