Top students in Burlco honored at dinner

Principals, assistant principals, directors and supervisors in Burlington County came together recently to honor some exceptional students.

The Burlington County Principals and Supervisors Association recently held its Annual Academic Awards Dinner. The top 10th, 11th and 12th grade students from each of the public high schools in Burlington County were invited to the ceremony at the Merion in Cinnaminson on April 7.

“On behalf of the Burlington County Principals and Supervisors Association, we are proud to honor these top students in every Burlington County high school,” said Denise King, president of the BCPSA.

The organization is affiliated with the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association (NJPSA) she said. All the students are invited to the dinner where they receive the honor and hobnob with other students, principals and special guests like Joyce Evans of Fox 29 news, Assemblyman Troy Singleton and Congressman Tom MacArthur.

The mission of the group is to support students and administrators in the Burlington County area as they focus on reaching their educational and professional development goals, she said.

“The association is pleased to honor at this event, those students who, as of the end of the first semester of the school year, represent the highest standards of academic achievements and educational excellence,” King said. “Congratulations to all of the exemplary scholars.”

Scholarships were also given out to a top eighth grade and 12th grade student, said principal and Medford School Board member, Stephen Cappello.

“It is a great event and we had many distinguished guests,” he said.

Winners of the scholarships were Grace Manno, a Burlington Township senior who received a $2,000 award and Leia Gibson and eighth grade Burlington Township student received a $250 award.
