Video: Lawmaker Herb Conaway Discusses Efforts To Close Racial Gap In Health Care
Chair of Assembly Health Committee wants a task force to explore why minority communities have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19
Assemblyman Herb Conaway, chair of the Health Committee and a medical doctor for over 25 years, sat with Michael Hill of NJTV News to discuss legislative efforts aimed at improving health outcomes for minorities in the state. Minority communities were disproportionately affected by COVID-19 and Conaway is looking to create a task force to study the reasons for that, though he theorizes it is most likely due to the disparities in care that minorities faced before the pandemic. They also discussed how telemedicine could help doctors and hospitals in the event of another outbreak.
