XGLOsive Basketball Alliance Tour a Huge Hit in Mount Laurel

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — Mount Laurel residents were treated to a night of glow-in-the-dark basketball, dancing and family fun, as the 2023 XGLOsive Basketball Alliance Tour came to the Larchmont Swim Club on Tuesday night.

The XGLOsive Basketball Alliance Tour, in partnership with the Burlington County Municipal Alliance Program, the Burlington County Department of Human Services and Prevention Plus of Burlington County, also made stops in Evesham, Mount Holly, Cinnaminson and Burlington City.

XGLOsive offers an exciting spin on traditional sports with glow-in-the-dark equipment and uniforms, black lights and dance music. It’s a fun, no-pressure social experience and was offered free-of-charge to Burlington County residents 12 and up. Since 2019, XGLOsive has partnered with the County Municipal Alliance and Prevention Plus to hold glow-in-the-dark tennis parties. This year marks the first time the group hosted basketball events.

“For years, XGLOsive has brought its brand of fun and exciting substance-free entertainment to Burlington County, and we’re pleased the company chose us as the location to launch its expansion into basketball,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson, the liaison to the Department of Human Services. “This is a great opportunity for teens and families to come enjoy some substance-free fun, while also learning more about the many services available to them in Burlington County. We want to thank the Municipal Alliance, Prevention Plus and our municipal partners for working together to organize these exciting events.”

The Mount Laurel stop of the Tour, held at Larchmont Swim Club, was co-hosted by Mount Laurel Municipal Alliance and was also attended by the Mount Laurel Police Department, Mount Laurel Public Works Department and the Philadelphia 76ers' Squad 76 Entertainment Team.

Deputy Mayor Fozia Janjua and Councilwoman Karen Cohen and Burlington County Commissioner Dan O’Connell were also on-hand to greet residents while showing their support for the initiative.

“We’re spreading the message that you don’t need drugs or alcohol for fun and excitement this summer,” said Joe Conlin, program coordinator for Prevention Plus of Burlington County. “The tennis parties were a big success here, so we’re excited to help XGLOsive branch out into other glow-in-the-dark sports."

State Senator Troy Singleton praised Burlington County, the Municipal Alliance, Prevention Plus and the other community sponsors of the XGLOsive Basketball Alliance Tour.

“Keeping our youth engaged is important all year round and these events provide fun and healthy recreation and opportunities for families to learn more about mental health and ways to remain substance free,” Senator Singleton said.
