New Jersey lawmakers sent the governor legislation on Monday that would allow licensed marijuana businesses to deduct certain expenses on their state tax returns, a partial remedy as the industry continues to be blocked from making federal deductions under Internal Revenue Service (IRS) code known as 280E.
Singleton, Turner Bill to Assist Cannabis Businesses Passes Senate
Trenton – In an effort to support the growth of cannabis businesses, the Senate today advanced legislation sponsored by Senator Troy Singleton and Senator Shirley K. Turner which would exclude the corporate business tax and the S corporation income under the gross income tax from the federal income tax provision that prohibits deductions and credits for cannabis businesses.
