TRENTON – Senator Troy Singleton (D-Burlington), the Senate Majority Caucus Chair and Chair of the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee, issued the following statement on the proposed cuts to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Federal Housing Administration (FHA), which threaten to reduce the departments’ workforce by as much as 50 percent and 40 percent respectively:

TRENTON – Aiming to ensure that fire escapes are inspected and approved by relevant experts, the Senate advanced legislation sponsored by Senator Troy Singleton that would require inspections of fire escapes or exterior stairways to be conducted by a structural engineer, an architect, or an employee of a certified fire escape inspection company.
