Committee Advances Singleton, Oroho Bill To Qualify Volunteer Emergency Responders For Small Employer Health Benefit Plans
Trenton – The Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee advanced bipartisan legislation sponsored by Senator Troy Singleton and Senator Steven Oroho (R- Morris/Sussex/Warren) would permit a municipality to include volunteer firefighters and other emergency responders within the municipal eligible employee group under the small employer health benefits plan statutes.
Legislation Seeking To Curb Discriminatory Property Appraisals Passes Community, Urban Affairs Committee
TRENTON – In an effort to combat discrimination in property appraisals, the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee advanced the “Fair Appraisals Act.” The legislation sponsored by Senator Nellie Pou and Senator Troy Singleton would prohibit appraisal professionals from discriminating against individuals on the basis of the actual or perceived race, creed, color, national origin or other characteristic listed pursuant to the “Law Against Discrimination” during the appraisal process of a residential property.
‘Moose’s Law’ Passes Senate
Trenton – The Senate today approved legislation that would prohibit anyone convicted of criminal animal cruelty from owning a domestic animal and from working or volunteering at businesses involving animals. Nicknamed “Moose’s Law, after a Burlington County dog that was stolen and killed after being left in a hot car, is sponsored by Senator Troy Singleton and Senate President Nick Scutari.
Senate Passes Bipartisan Legislation Assisting Veteran-Owned Businesses
Trenton – In an effort to promote and support veteran-owned businesses, the Senate today passed legislation sponsored by Senator Troy Singleton and Senator Steve Oroho (R-Morris/Sussex/Warren) that would revise the “Set-Aside Act for Disabled Veterans’ Businesses.”
Singleton Partnering With Literacy NJ For Community Service Project In Riverside
MOORESTOWN – In honor of June being National Immigrant Heritage Month, Senator Troy Singleton is planning a community service project in partnership with Riverside Township and with Literacy NJ to help their “English as a Second Language” students practice the English language. The “Serve with Senator Singleton event” will take place on Saturday June 11 from 10am to 12pm at Spring Garden Park in Riverside.

Trenton – Yesterday the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee advanced four police reform bills that would assist officers responding to mental health emergencies, provide critical information for first responders aiding individuals with special needs, fund a program to encourage more minority law enforcement applicants and require cultural diversity and implicit bias training for all officers.
